Three new stores in Penang and the exclusive introduction of three tyre models highlight the company’s focus on local motorists and its growing multi-city service network.
Malaysian motorists will have more options for automotive maintenance and tyre services as Tuhu Car Care expands into Penang with three new stores, strengthening its presence beyond Kuala Lumpur while introducing three new tyre products in collaboration with Continental.
The expansion marks a new phase in Tuhu Car Care’s Malaysian operations, as the company looks to build a wider automotive service network that combines online convenience with in-store expertise. Its Penang launch also reflects a strategy centred on meeting local motorists’ needs, from routine vehicle maintenance to tyre performance in Malaysia’s tropical weather conditions.
Alongside the new stores, Tuhu Car Care and Continental have introduced the XC7, TC7 and TC Gold Plus tyres exclusively through Tuhu Car Care’s Malaysian channels. The products are designed to address common driving requirements, including wet-road performance, durability, comfort and handling.
Meeting the Needs of Malaysia’s Everyday Drivers
Car ownership remains widespread in Penang, creating opportunities for automotive service providers to meet demand for vehicle maintenance and replacement parts.
According to the Department of Statistics Malaysia, 92.0% of households in Penang owned a car in 2024, close to the national figure of 92.3%. Meanwhile, Malaysia recorded 870,300 new registrations of four-wheeled vehicles in 2025, including 759,100 passenger vehicles, based on figures from the Road Transport Department (JPJ) and the Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA).
For motorists who rely on their vehicles for daily commutes and longer journeys, choosing suitable tyres and maintaining vehicle components are important considerations. Frequent rainfall also makes wet-road grip and braking performance relevant factors when selecting tyres.
Tuhu Car Care’s latest expansion and product introductions aim to address these practical needs by bringing automotive products and installation services closer to consumers.
Three Tyre Models for Different Driving Needs
The collaboration with Continental introduces three tyre models tailored to different driving priorities.
– XC7: Developed for everyday urban and long-distance driving, with an emphasis on wet-road performance.
– TC7: Designed for regular commuting, balancing wet-road grip with durability.
– TC Gold Plus: Focuses on handling and ride comfort for commuting and longer-distance travel, alongside wet-road performance.
The introduction comes as industry research by Malaysian automotive platform Motorist Malaysia indicates that many local drivers travel between 20,000 and 30,000 kilometres annually. For motorists covering such distances, tyre durability, comfort and dependable performance can be important considerations.
By making the three models available exclusively through its Malaysian channels, Tuhu Car Care aims to pair Continental’s tyre technology with a distribution and service network designed around local driving conditions.

Bringing Online Convenience to Automotive Maintenance
Beyond expanding its physical footprint, Tuhu Car Care is positioning its integrated online-to-offline model as a way to simplify vehicle maintenance.
Consumers can purchase products such as tyres, engine oil and batteries through the company’s online platform, select suitable services and arrange appointments before visiting a store for installation or maintenance.
The company also offers product authenticity guarantees through direct sourcing from brands, providing an additional consideration for consumers purchasing automotive products.
This approach combines online product selection and appointment booking with in-store services, giving motorists a more structured way to plan routine maintenance and replacement work.
Penang Marks the Next Stage of Expansion
Tuhu Car Care previously established its Malaysian operations in Kuala Lumpur and surrounding areas, using its trial-operation period to gain experience with local consumer preferences, appointment systems, product selection and service delivery.
The opening of three Penang stores extends that presence into another major Malaysian city. One of the new locations is situated near George Town’s historic city centre, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2008.
With more than 20 stores currently operating in Malaysia, Tuhu Car Care is continuing to develop its network beyond the capital region.
Vincent Chen, Regional Head of Tuhu Car Care Malaysia, said Penang represents an important step in the company’s commitment to Malaysian consumers, highlighting its intention to make automotive services more accessible while responding to local driving conditions and customer requirements.
Looking ahead, the company plans to expand into additional Malaysian cities according to consumer needs and market demand.
As its local network grows, Tuhu Car Care’s next challenge will be to translate its combination of digital services, product sourcing and standardised in-store operations into a consistent experience for motorists across different markets in Malaysia.
