Port Dickson – A six-year-old boy was found drowned last night after missing during a picnic with his family at 3rd Mile Pantai Bagan Pinang, near here yesterday afternoon.
A joint search team by the police and firemen found the body of G. Shashi Kumar at 10.30pm along the same beach where he had disappeared.
The body was taken to the Port Dickson Hospital for a post-mortem.
Earlier yesterday the boy’s father S. Ganesan, 35, said he realised his son went missing at 5.30pm after he and other family members finished swimming.
Ganesan who is from Cheras, Selangor, said his son did not join him and other family members for fear of deep water and had waited on the beach.
“After coming out from the sea, I joined about 20 family members and relatives to eat.
“Suddenly I realised he was missing and we failed to find him despite our repeated search in the area,” he said here yesterday.
Ganesan said his son is about 0.9 meters tall and last wore a blue shirt and black shorts.
Port Dickson Fire and Rescue Department chief Mustafa Ahmad, said the department received an emergency call at 7.12 pm and arrived at the scene at 7.32 pm.
He said a fire truck with seven officers and firefighters were rushed to the scene for a search and rescue operations with the help of Civil Defence Department (JPAM).
