Kuantan – Five local men have been detained by police today for assaulting and forcing two men to eat cow dung after accusing them of stealing a cow in Felda Jengka 17, Maran, on Wednesday.
Maran District Police chief DSP Mat Rizal Mat Razi said they were detained in their respective homes in Jengka 15 and Jengka 17, Maran, based on tip offs and investigations.
“To date, there is no report of a cow theft. Police only received a report from the victims of the assault.
“One of the victims has been discharged from the Bandar Jengka Hospital. The other was transferred to the Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Hospital in Temerloh for an operation on his right hand. It is believed a nerve was severed when he was allegedly cut in the attack,” he said when contacted here, today.
Yesterday, the media reported that a group of men was being hunted by police after they assaulted two local men suspected of stealing a cow. The men were also forced to eat cow dung.
The incident was recorded by certain quarters and went viral after it was uploaded on Facebook and YouTube. – Bernama
