Kuala Lumpur – Anwar Ibrahim’s statement that his wife will take over as the Menteri Besar of Selangor has sown more confusion in the already murky ‘Oust Khalid’ move.
Menteri Besar Incorporated chief executive Faekah Husin said the decision made by Pakatan yesterday showed no clear indication whether PAS and DAP supported their coalition partner’s move to replace Khalid Ibrahim as the Selangor Menteri Besar.
“The decision made by PAS and DAP was actually a subtle way of saying “no” to PKR’s efforts to oust Khalid from his position,”Faekah told.
She also said Pakatan’s decision to accept the PKR proposal had sparked confusion and doubts in some quarters.
Faekah was responding to reports on Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s announcement that Pakatan had finally agreed on PKR’s proposal to install Wan Azizah as the Selangor Menteri Besar.
Anwar said the DAP and PAS leadership will discuss the proposal at their party level and a decision will made at a later date.
But Anwar won’t have it all his own way. Selangor PAS Youth want Khalid to continue as the Selangor Menteri Besar and urged PKR not to gamble away Selangorians’ trust in Pakatan Rakyat.
In a statement on Thursday morning, its youth chief Syarhan Humaizi Abdul Halim concurred with Selangor PAS Commissioner Iskandar Samad, who was against PKR’s decision to replace Khalid with PKR president and Kajang assemblywoman Datuk Seri Dr.Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.
The Kajang by-election was orchestrated by PKR members to oust Khalid from his position as the Selangor Menteri Besar.
Khalid has been pressured by his own allies to step down, and both DAP and PKR have been critical of Khalid’s performance as a Menteri Besar.
DAP and PKR are unhappy with Khalid’s administration of Selangor as well as his handling of major issues such as the Kidex, the water shortages and the Bible seizure.
Khalid however remained steadfast, saying he would stay in the office at least until the end of the term to fulfil his promises to the rakyat.
