Kuala Lumpur – After a successful open campaign to get Astro to sponsor the TV rights to RTM for the Thomas Cup Final live telecast so that all Malaysians can tune in, Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin has decided to watch it in New Delhi.
He made the revelation through his Facebook page, where he stated he could not attend the final day of the Putrajaya Youth Festival because he was flying down to support the national team in India.
He said he felt it was his “calling” to be there in person.
“Even though my presence is not going to make any difference to the team, but as the Sports Minister, I feel the need to be there to support them,” he said through the statement.
Khairy was happy that RTM finally got the rights to telecast the match live.
“This means that more people will be able to follow the final.”
He said Nori Abdullah, his wife, would attend events at the festival on his behalf.
“The Bend it Past KJ at the Football Enclave challenge will still go on with a substitute keeper and winners will still be awarded the PS4,” he added.
Khairy also asked the organisers of the festival to provide a large projector screen for people to view the final during the festival. – Rakyat Post
