Cops Waiting For DNA Report Of Dead “Datuk Seri”

Georgetown – Penang police are still awaiting the DNA report on a businessman with the “Datuk Seri” title to verify the identity of a burnt body dumped in a forest in Lumut, Perak, on Friday last week.

Penang police chief Datuk Abdul Rahim Hanafi said he understands the DNA report will be issued within a week.

“Before this, Perak Police had confirmed the body as that of the missing victim in Bukit Mertajam based on similarities on the dental records of the deceased and the missing businessman.

“However, we are still waiting for the DNA test result to confirm. I will pass on the information once the result is out,” he told reporters after a cheque presentation ceremony and launching of the ‘Peace Lady’ Amanita scooter squad, here today.

On Wednesday, Perak deputy police chief Datuk A. Paramasivam reportedly said that police confirmed the identity of the body as that of Law Yong Chow, 43, the man who was reported missing in Bukit Mertajam on Jan 13 and that the body had also been claimed by the family. – Bernama
