KOTA BELUD – The selection of Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak as the prime minister represents the choice and aspiration of the people based on the system of a democratic nation.
The State Assemblyman for Kadamaian, Jeremy Malajad said Najib must be given the chance to show his capability to lead the nation until the next general election (GE).
“We have got a leader based on the aspiration of the people themselves through an independent democratic system.
“I think it is clear that we defend Najib’s leadership because we have elected him based on the majority vote (through the general election),” he said when met at the launching of Kadamaian Nature Challenge, here Sunday.
He was asked to comment on the “people’s declaration” moved by former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamed to support the removal of Najib as the prime minister.
Jeremy said the people should not be influenced by Dr Mahathir’s move as well as that of the opposition and should wait for the opportunity to choose a leader in the next GE.
“Tun Dr Mahathir tries to give a negative perception to the people as though the present government does not bring anything that the people hope for.
“But here (in Kadamaian) we continue to have confidence that the prime minister is capable of taking us to the pinnacle of success based on what we are enjoying now,” he said.
Meanwhile, Parti Bersatu Sabah head of the Kadamaian division Demis Rumanti said that Najib and his cabinet ministers were still capable of discharging their tasks with excellence.
“So far, I don’t see any contribution from the opposition towards development in the Kota Belud and Kadamaian constituencies,” he added.
