Kota Kinabalu – The Sabah Customs Department seized methamphetamine worth RM4.94 million from two individuals at a courier service company in Tawau, last Friday.
Its director Datuk Dr Janathan Kandok said the drug weighing 26kg was confiscated from the suspects who came to claim the package.
“The two local men, aged 54 and 56, were nabbed when they were putting the package into a vehicle,” he told a news conference at Wisma Kastam, here, today.
He said the package was earlier detected to contain prohibited item through the scanning machine.
The two suspects are being remanded for investigation under the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
Janathan said it was the biggest drug seizure by Sabah Customs since 2012 and until January this year, 13 seizures of drugs estimated to be worth RM10.1 million were made.
He said 19 individuals, comprising 10 locals and nine foreigners, had been charged in court for drug offences. – Bernama
