Butterworth – Policemen on a routine check for a Year One pupil who was absent from schools few days, were stunned to find a malnourished seven-year-old girl home alone in a kampung house in Sungai Dua.
Upon checking, policemen were in for a bigger shock when they found out the parents and her siblings were staying just opposite.
It is learnt the girl was left alone in the house by her parents and was suspected to have been abused.
North Seberang Prai police chief Assistant Commissioner Abdul Rahman Ibrahim said it received a report from a school teacher after the victim was absent for three days.
“The teacher also noticed something was amiss with the girl on the first day of school. She appeared pale and malnourished,” he said when contacted.
