Putrajaya – Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin stressed that world number one shuttler, Datuk Lee Chong Wei did not use performance enhancing drugs.
He said that traces of dexamethasone were found in the shuttler’s urine was due to the rehabilitation drugs that he was taking.
Khairy was commenting on Chong Wei’s B sample urine test result which is expected to be announced today.
It was also learnt that the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) will be making an official announcement in a press conference at 2pm at BAM headquarters in Bukit Kiara today.
The press conference will be chaired by BAM’s working committee on doping, Datuk Norza Zakaria.
Chong Wei, who went through a random dope test during the World Championships in Copenhagen on Aug 30, witnessed the seal of his B sample being opened at Oslo on Nov 5.
He faces a two-year ban but he will get a chance for a hearing with the Badminton World federation (BWF), in a date to be announced soon.
