    Hi Everyone,

We are aware of the statement made by the Domestic Trade and Consumerism secretary-general on Monday 6 April 2015, that restaurants and hotels will not be allowed to impose service charge. The announcement further explains that service charge can only be imposed if there is a collective agreement between employer and employees. At OLDTOWN White Coffee, we have obtained this agreement with our employees and have been practising this since the establishment of the business. The 10% service charge is not only for the convenience of your dining experience but it is also part of our agreement with our employees, where they will receive service charges collected to supplement their monthly wages

On Wednesday, 8 April 2015, the Ministry of Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism (KPDNKK) mentioned that they plan to issue special certificates for restaurants and hotels which can impose the service charge. This is an interim measure ahead of a long-term solution following the implementation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) on April 1 2015. The article was published in Bernama here: http://www.bernama.com/bernama/v8/newsindex.php?id=1123975

We understand that the statements might be confusing but we would like to reassure you that we are working very closely with the Ministry on this matter. Once we have the finalised guidelines, we will definitely update all our customers accordingly. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

    Hi there,

We are aware of this incident and we have taken immediate action to rectify the situation onsite and are in contact with the customer who ordered this meal.

Please be assured that cleanliness and food hygiene is our utmost priority. Our standard operating procedure for all our outlets is to have scheduled pest control visits. However, as the outlet is located inside the airport retail area, the cleanliness and pest control of our surroundings are also dependent on the general area surrounding our location. We are constantly working with the management team of the mall to ensure that our outlet and the surrounding area is kept safe and clean for all patrons.

We can confirm that our Quality Control team is already onsite to ensure that everything is in order. Should you have any queries regarding this matter, you can reach us via our Facebook Feedback app here: https://www.facebook.com/OldTownWhiteCoffeeMalaysia/app_368412286626636

    Thank you.
