DALLAS — A jilted lover may be the mastermind behind the murder-for-hire plot that resulted in the death of a Dallas dentist on September 2.
The Dallas Morning News reports that Brenda Delgado, 33, is believed to have orchestrated the killing. She was a dental hygiene student at Sanford-Brown College when she met Ricardo Paniagua, 38, a dermatologist. They were together for two years before eventually breaking up for unknown reasons.
Dentist Kendra Hatcher, 35, became Paniagua’s new girlfriend. According to Delgado’s friends questioned by the police, Delgado was jealous and became obsessed in tracking the activities of Hatcher and Paniagua.
Delgado borrowed a jeep Cherokee from an unidentified individual who was uninvolved in the killing. The individual would later inform the police that it was his car that he saw in the news.
For $500, 23-year-old dental assistant Crystal Cortes agreed to be a getaway driver for a hired thug, identified as 31-year-old Kristopher Love.
Cortes told police Delgado used an iPhone to track Hatcher’s whereabouts. On September 2 Cortes and Love followed Hatcher home. Love ambushed Hatcher in the parking lot of her apartment building, killed her and stole her belongings.
Cortes’s attorney said that Cortes thought she and Love were only supposed to rob Hatcher.
Authorities are searching for Delgado, who is considered a fugitive.- TN
