Kuala Terengganu – A total of 1,051 dengue fever cases have been reported in Terengganu in the first nine months this year, recording a 194% increase as compared to the 357 cases in the same period last year.
Of the number of cases reported between January and September, there were 989 dengue fever cases while the rest were dengue haemorrhagic fever. Last year, there were 320 cases of dengue fever and 37 cases of dengue haemorrhagic fever.
State health director Datuk Dr Anwa Sulaiman said Kuala Terengganu recorded the most cases at 680, as compared to 137 cases last year, followed by Besut (88), Marang (80), Dungun (77), Kemaman (75), Hulu Terengganu (37) and Setiu (14).
“The department has also identified three localities with the epidemic repeating in Kuala Terengganu, namely Kampung Gong Tok Nasek, Pangsapuri Harmoni in Batas Baru and Losong Haji Mat Shafie.
