Teluk Intan – Gerakan President Mah Siew Keong has acknowledged that some members of the Gerakan Youth committee are dissatisfied with the movement’s leadership.
Referring to reports that five members of the youth committee had resigned their positions, he said their dissatisfaction was not with the party itself.
He said he would meet with the youth committee this Tuesday to try to resolve disputes in the movement.
The Star has meanwhile quoted Gerakan Youth chief Tan Keng Liang as denying a news report alleging a “mass resignation” in protest of his leadership.
Tan confirmed that five youth leaders had quit their posts but said three of them would remain in the youth committee.
“I was just informed by the secretary-general that out of five, only two resigned,” the Star quoted him as saying. “The other three only relinquished their posts and are still committee members.”
A news report yesterday said eight youth leaders were quitting because of differences with Tan.
The report named the eight as vice-chief Clarence Lee, treasurer-general Adrian Ong Ching Woo, deputy treasurer-general Chan Tzun Hei, deputy secretary-generals Allan Tang Luan Kang and Ooi Zhi Yi, bureau heads Chong Chee Yen and Chia Gim Tiong and central committee member Ivanpal Grewal Singh.
